CPRIT grant Funding
Initiated by Texas voters 14 years ago and reauthorized statewide in Decisive Voting in November 2019, CPRIT and its grantees advance innovative research and prevention efforts across the state. Fiscal 2021 was a landmark year, including the recruitment of its 250th CPRIT grant funding to Texas, a $300 million investment in preventive services, and the first CPRIT-funded drug approval.
Asian Americans are the fastest growing racial/ethnic group in Texas, and cancer is the leading cause of death among Asian Americans. The Light Salt Club provides quality health education, cancer screening, and survival support to Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, and Filipino communities in the Houston and Austin areas. Including screening services for colorectal cancer, breast cancer, cervical cancer, and hepatitis C , and with CPRIT grant funding, Light Salt works to alleviate cancer disparities in the Asian American community.
